An Esther Egg Film
A young shooting victim’s struggle to turn his pain into purpose.
Gun Violence has been a prevailing issue throughout American history. “I am Oronde” is the true life story of a shooting survivor named Oronde McClain. At the age of 10, Oronde was struck in the back of the head by a stray bullet. That he survived is a miracle. Our story focuses primarily on the shooting, told from the perspective of those who were there that fateful night. We recount this story by following his young mother and grandmother, two cops who broke protocol in order to get Oronde to the hospital in record time and the sole surgeon in the hospital that night.
At its core, I Am Oronde is a story about triumph over trauma, perseverance over pain and the lingering impact gun violence has on the survivor, his family and the larger community.
To bring togehter the Pennisylvania community, and the entire United States, on this issue that affects families everywhere.
